How To Apply : Instructions and Tips

Make sure you follow all the steps carefully to avoid lifting / missing pieces of the decal! Most of my decals are quite intricate, so it's important to be patient and careful!

Important info regarding temperature

The ideal temperatures for applying a decal is anywhere between 60-80°F / 16-26°C.

Anything below or above can and will negatively affect the effectiveness of the adhesive and make application very difficult or even impossible.

Steps TLDR;

1. Clean application surface.

2. Remove decal from backing slowly.

3. Apply decal on surface.

4. Scrape hard with a thick and rigid flat edge.

5. Remove transfer tape from decal slowly.

Note: NEVER wipe the decal with a towel. you can wash touchlessly, and let it air dry!

  • 🤗 Aftercare

You can wash the decals as much as you want but remember to NEVER wipe it down with a towel, as they are more coarse and sometimes the fibers can get caught on intricate parts of the decal and can tug and ruin the decal adhesive. Just carefully dab dry the surrounding area or let it air dry.

☀️ Outdoor Durability: Decals usually will last at least 2-3 years if well taken care of, unless you're in areas where the sun can get extreme. Holographic vinyl is prone to burning under prolonged sun exposure (usually only affected around or after 6 months, this is different if the car is garage-kept.) White decals have the strongest durability.

🏠 Indoor Durability: Decals can last a very long time indoors upwards of 5 years if the decal doesn't get touched often, like a PC case. However, if it's on a water bottle, or laptop where you constantly touch or rub against, the edges could start lifting up.

  • Step-By-Step Text Instructions

  • 1. Clean ✨

Clean your desired application surface thoroughly.

Water and a little bit of soap may the the most preferred way to clean. Alcohol will work well too!

Important: Do not use ammonia based cleaners (like Windex), as these products will affect the adhesion of the decal.

  • 2. Burnish

With an flat edge, plastic card (like a credit card) or felt squeegee, firmly scrape over the decal to make sure that it adheres well to the clear transfer tape.

(I always burnish the decal before sending it to you, but it will only help to do it again right before application!)

  • 3. Remove backing

Slowly and carefully peel off the backing sheet from the decal.

Goal: get the whole decal to adhere on the clear transfer tape!
My designs sometimes have really small pieces, so please keep watch to make sure you get every little piece. If you see any piece of the decal not sticking to the transfer tape, pinch that part of the decal against the transfer and carefully roll off the backing. Repeat until you get the whole decal on the clear transfer sheet.

Tip: If you're experiencing any trouble with getting the whole decal on the clear transfer tape, it should help to start with the decal facing down on a table or some flat surface, then slowly roll the backing sheet off while holding the transfer tape on the table with your other hand.

  • 4. Place decal

Position the decal on your desired surface slowly to ensure there are no air bubbles between the decal and your desired surface.

(Tip: press down from one end while holding the other end up then slowly slide a credit card or any flat edge against the surface towards the other side.)

  • 5. Burnish again - do not remove the clear transfer tape yet!

Scrape all over the surface of the decal (the transfer tape should still be on) with a flat edge firmly to make sure the adhesive gets a good grip on where you applied it. Decal adhesive requires pressure to stick really well on the surface.

(Note: for best results, press really well on the smaller pieces and pointy delicate areas if there are any, and let the decal sit for 10-15 minutes before going to the next step. This gives time for the decal adhesive to settle/cure a little bit more.)

  • 6. Remove transfer tape

Slowly peel away the clear transfer tape from the decal at the sharpest angle. If you see any piece of the decal lifting up with the tape, press it back down and try again.

If there is any adhesive residue for any reason, you can clean it off with alcohol. Be very careful around the delicate parts.

  • 7. Admire your new decal!

If you get a bubble under your decal when applying, try to squeeze it out towards any edge of the decal, but if it's in the middle of the vinyl with no edge near it, you can use a very fine pin needle or something very sharp to puncture a tiny hole and press out the air.

Decals can be delicate (especially the holo/opals) so be careful not to scrape or scratch them after removing the transfer tape.

It takes about 3 days for the decal's adhesive to completely cure to the surface!

  • Removal

When the time comes to when you want to take it off or replace the decal, peel it off, and wipe the adhesive residue off with alcohol.

If the decal is on a window/glass/mirror, you can spray it with soap/water and scrape it off with a razor blade and clean off the remaining adhesive residue with alcohol. If you have Goo Gone, use that as it's the easiest way to clean off sticky residue.
